Jesse had had a busy day in the tea rooms and Maggie was consumed by a steady flow of clients. She was rather surprised at how many clients she had, as Glastonbury was known as a centre for new age woo-woo, and there were plenty of readers available everywhere in town, but she still seemed to be busy. Maggie finished with her last client at about 3:30 PM in the afternoon, and was just tidying her space and closing off the energy when there was a knock at the door.
She knew immediately who it was. She took a deep breath and opened the door to the delectable Mac. He looked happy to see her but tired from his journey. His eyes lit with delight as he swept her into his arms, pulling her close, breathing her in and holding on tight.
âAingeal Milis, it is so, so good to see you. Iâve missed you, my lass.â He kissed her soundly, knocking the air out of Maggie as she tried to return his kiss, her heart thumping in her chest, a counterpoint tattoo to his heavy beat. He finally drew back. âAre you finished for the day, lass?â
âYes, I just have to sign off with Jesse, and then Iâm done for the week. Why donât you go park your bike next door. The gate is on the side road.â
Maggie rummaged through her bag, and held up a key with an amethyst crystal key ring attached. âThis will open the padlock and Iâll come into the house and let you in through the conservatory.â
âSounds good, my darlinâ.â He gave her a hug, then took his helmet and gear to the motorcycle and moved it to the gate.
Maggie signed off for the day and then walked into the house to open the French doors that led from the small conservatory out to where Mac stood grinning, his bags at his feet, his motorcycle parked next to Maggieâs car.
âCome on in, handsome, Iâll show you around. Itâs all open plan here mostly, kitchen, laundry, dining alcove, living room, and then upstairs, the bathroom straight ahead, and Iâve put you in here.â Maggie said, leading him into the turquoise bedroom. âI hope this is okay?â Maggie asked nervously.
Mac smiled. âFor the moment, itâs perfect, and far better than living on a campsite in a tent, thatâs for sure.â
âAre you hungry, Mac?â
âNot quite yet, but I could use a shower. Is that okay?â
âCertainly, towels are in the lower drawer of the tallboy. Make yourself at home. Iâm just going to make a cup of tea.â Maggie turned to move out of the room and go downstairs when Mac stayed her arm. âThank you, Maggie, I really appreciate this.â
Maggie gave Mac a warm smile. âItâs my pleasure, Mac.â She pulled away, and over her shoulder said, âSee you in a bit.â
